Press Release: Network Jack Now Available from North American Resellers
LAN ports are becoming scarce as more network devices find their way into offices and cubicles, conference rooms, and classrooms. Desktop systems, notebooks, printers, scanners, PDAs, and VoIP telephones are all competing for ports in organizations today.

What if you could solve the problem by adding LAN ports instantly, at a cost that's less than half the cost of pulling wires and implementing new live connections?

Now you can. The innovative 3Com® NJ100 network jack expands a single wired Ethernet LAN connection into four switched ports, seamlessly integrating with your existing Ethernet or Fast Ethernet infrastructure.
  • Use a 3Com NJ100 Network Jack to replace an existing wall jack or to serve as a LAN outlet in modular office paneling. Available in black or cream, the jack fits a standard 2.75- x 4.5-inch wall outlet cutout.
  • In addition to instantly expanding a single Ethernet LAN connection into four 10/100 switched ports, network jack provides two pass-through ports for dedicated subnets or phone/data connections.
  • The jack's compact, Power-over-Ethernet design lets you install it virtually anywhere you need more LAN connectivity.
  • For LANs without Power-over-Ethernet capabilities, you can order a 3Com Network Jack AC power supply for each network jack, or you can install a 3Com Network Jack Power-over-Ethernet Midspan Solution in your switch closet to power from one to 24 network jacks.
3Com Network Jack -- Front and Back

The front of the network jack provides six device ports. Four RJ-45 ports provide access to a 10/100 Ethernet unmanaged switch. Two pass-through ports accommodate either RJ-11 or RJ-45 connectors for data or voice/data traffic. At the back of the network jack are three connectors, one for each pass-through port and one for the four-port switch.

IT administrators in business will appreciate how effortlessly and economically they can expand their existing LAN infrastructures. At the same time, they can avoid unauthorized user connections that raise security, reliability, and management concerns. IT administrators in education will especially welcome the cost savings in older, hard-to-wire buildings.

Users will enjoy the convenience of having multiple connections for linking mobile and desktop computing devices and adding VoIP telephones to workspaces.
