| Four-year project completes move from ATM technology to Ethernet-based network management MARLBOROUGH, MASS. — September 2, 2008 — 3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) today announced that Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecommunications company, is changing to a completely 3Com network over a period of four years. The project has moved Swisscom from ATM to Ethernet technology, and reduced the complexity of its network management. 3Com solutions and products are based on industry standards, and were developed and tested with Swisscom during an 18-month pilot phase. |

Swisscom is using 3Com Switches 775X (modular access switch), 5500G and 5500 (stackable Ethernet switches), S750X (modular 10-Gigabit switch), and the 3Com router 5000. In addition, 3Com provides various services. In the field of hardware maintenance, Swisscom's service contract with 3Com provides replacements if routers or switches fail. In addition, 3Com develops and designs new projects, and provides a resident engineer for emergencies.
